what drives equity, inclusion and resilience, what denies it & what can shift it

Across sectors, societies and economies, conversations about equity and inclusion often remain restricted, cornered or at the surface level. But lasting change isn’t built on intention and commitments alone — it requires the work of shifting systems, it requires bold empowered leaders.

At theZURI, we believe equitable economies don’t emerge by accident, they are engineered, decision by decision. That’s why each edition of theZURI Levers explores the structural forces that shape our world. From how care is (under)valued in national budgets, to how informal workers are excluded from resilience strategies, to where capital flows, and where it does not.

What we fund reflects what we value. And what we overlook - care, equity, gaps, inclusion, defines the limits of our progress. It’s time to rethink how we lead, budget, invest and build.

What is theZURI Levers?

theZURI Levers, is our signature deep dive series that goes beyond diagnosis to focus on transformation. It is targeted at leaders, ones with abilities to lead change and shape equitable, inclusive and just futures.

theZURI Levers, is where we slow down to examine what is underneath the system, what are the rules, where are the incentives, the data gaps, and what default decisions are driving current outcomes. This is where we unpack insights by exploring the systems, decisions, and power structures that shape equitable economies, inclusive cities, and resilient communities. And unravel the policies, investments, and innovations that can shift outcomes at scale.

The Levers is where theZURI examines the structural decisions that drive or deny equity — across care, finance, labour and access.

theZURI Levers, editions can take different forms and shapes. But each edition of theZURI Levers will offer a deep dive into a key theme, from care and finance to labour, climate, capital, technology and infrastructure, through a curated mix of one or more of the following:

  • ✍🏽 Series of articles and essays that reframe debates

  • 🧭 Policy tools and strategy briefs to act on

  • 🧠 Leadership dialogues with those shifting the system

  • 📢 Campaign insights that move beyond the usual talking points

And no, this is not just another explainer. It’s a toolset, for leaders, donors, corporate boards, policymakers, and anyone building systems at scale.

→ Care, inclusion, equity, not your support acts, but the structural core

Our First Edition: Caring Futures

We open the series with a focus on a long overlooked macroeconomic blind spot: Care.

From unpaid labour to informal care systems and tech enabled frontline innovations to financing care, this edition unpacks why care is not just a social good, it’s an economic engine.

And why growth, inclusion, and resilience all depend on investing in it.
